I'm moving out...
During the last few months, I have been exploring a buy out of my legal right to continue living in the brownstone that I have lived in for the past 25 years. It all started when my landlord died about 18 months ago. I learned that she had willed her building to a small southern college that wanted to convert the building into an Alumni House.
Happily, the new owners and I reached an agreement that benefited everyone involved. Part of the deal was agreeing to vacate my home within 60 days, which seemed like plenty of time to relocate but proved to be far more challenging than I thought.
The great news is that I have found an apartment in "SPAHA" that I really like. For non-New Yorkers, SPAHA is the hip way of referring to a neighborhood that is called Spanish Harlem.
Spanish Harlem was considered unsafe and a no-mans land just ten years ago. However, I was delighted to discover that the neighborhood is undergoing major improvements. In fact, many people are predicting that SPAHA will become the next "in" neighborhood of NYC during the next several years. I am moving in with the belief that it will!
I'll resume blogging as soon as I am settled....
