Save the date for PAINWeek 2008, September 4-7, 2008

Although I am still digesting my very pleasurable and satisfying learning and teaching experience, I am ready to say this about my participation in PAINWeek 2007: Wow!

The organizers of PAINWeek 2007 sure know how to set up a collaborative educational conference. I kid you not, there was an excitement in the air during the entire conference. My advice to all of you reading this is: plan on attending PAINWeek 2008, September 4-7, 2008.

I believe Dale Carnagie would have been proud of my associate Dan Cleary and my participation in PAINWeek 2007 - We made lots of friends and introduced a wide range of pain specialists to the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association (IMDHA) - an international referral service for certified hypnosis practitioners.

I am thrilled to report that as a result of the feedback the IMDHA received from those who attended our One Day Training and our 2 hour PAINWeek seminar on "Effective Communication", the IMDHA will be creating a special listing for their members who have taken Dan Cleary's and my advanced trainings in Pain Relief.

And based on the very favorable feedback that Dan and I received from the many front line medical experts who also attended our "Effective Communication" seminar, I think it is fair to say that they will start speaking to their patients in ways that promote feeling better and healing faster.

Again, Wow!

Partnering Against Unnecessary Suffering at PAINWeek 2007

Patients who feel better-heal faster and get more out of their therapy or rehab.

In my last Blog, I mentioned that September is National Pain Awareness Month and I shared that I was very excited to be a program director in this comprehensive and open national forum for primary care practitioners, pain professionals, and pain societies to share their experience, knowledge, and resources with frontline clinicians providing pain management services.

Today, I want to tell you about the Programs that I will be co-leading with Daniel F. Cleary. Now normally Dan and I actively compete for certified hypnotists, seeking advanced hypnotic and/or mind/body training, as we both specialize in helping people take the suffering out of painful conditions and experiences and we both teach at the same national and international hypnosis conferences.

Realizing that PAINWeek is quite different than any of the many other continuing educational conferences that Dan and I have participated in, in that, PAINWeek is all about collaboration and sharing, I invited Dan to join me and co-lead a one day, pre-conference workshop and one two-part conference program.

I mention this here because: You don't have to be a hypnotist or hypnotherapist to attend our pre-conference workshop, even though our workshop is an advanced training for hypnosis practitioners.

Dan and I will be teaching techniques that do not require conventional entrancement, we are confident that if you join us -- you will leave our workshop with useable tools for assisting patients with structural, pathological or mysterious pain reduce their suffering.

In fact, we are confident that the healthcare and allied healthcare providers who join us will easily be able to use what they learn in our workshop by the time they get back to their practices. Our guided relaxation and imagery programs are wonderful additions to your toolboxes.

Attend our two-part conference program because effective language is the basis for healthcare communication, managing expectations, and ultimately influencing patient outcomes. Our two-part presentation explores the conscious and unconscious meanings of words, expressions, and recommendations commonly made by healthcare practitioners.

I'll end with a question: Do you want to help your patients feel better and heal faster with less pain?
